Kefalonia is the largest Ionian island in western Greece. It has a population of approximately 45,000 and covers a total area of approximately 302 square miles. Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia. Another important city on the island of Kefalonia Lixouri. The island is said to be a repository of resorts. This is mainly the reason for the large number of tourists drawn by the destination. Tourists enjoy their visits to the villages situated in the picturesque island and attractive appearance to their eyes to offer. These beaches are characterized by white sand and beautiful emerald green waters. One of the most famous beaches of the island is the Myrtos Beach. The highest mountain is Mount Ainos in Kefalonia. Kefolonia is home to several museums, including Korgialeneios Museum Foundation Kosmetatos in Argostoli Archaeological Museum in Argostoli, Lixouri Lakovatios Library and Museum in Fiscardo. Tourists prefer to stay in or around Lassi, a lovely resort located near Argostoli. Tourists and residents are well served by the island of Kefalonia International Airport. In the summer you would find a number of charter flights from all major UK airports to Kefalonia.
