Every year, thousands of people from all over the world flock to New York because of it’s historic past, sites, shopping and big city feel. It has been a great inspiration for many people that live in and outside the city. Originally, the city was a docking point for immigrants and now has a diverse range of different ethnic communities that call it home. A visit to the city can be expensive, however there are some inexpensive, yet can’t miss places to visit.
China Town – One of the largest ethnic communities in New York is the Chinese community. The community has grown so large that they have cornered off a small portion of the city and turned it into a city within a city. Here, you can find cultural foods and items that you might come across if you were in China. In terms of affordability, a simple walk around the area is entertaining, inexpensive and shows an important dynamic community within New York. Oh yeah, you can find a meal for under $7 in most restaurants and expect the potions to be large.
Metropolitan Museum – The MET is one of the premier destinations in New York City and has one of the largest collections of artifacts and artwork in North America. Occupying a small piece of land on Central Park, the entrance fee is pay what you can, so people of all financial backgrounds can gain access.
TV Tapings – New York City is home to over 20 television shows, which are taped on a regular basis. These include, “The Late Show”, “Jerry Springer Show” and other classics. Shows are typically filmed from Monday to Thursday during the late afternoon and you can be part of the audience for free. Tickets should be arranged a few weeks in advance.
