Villa Nightclub, Perth, Australia – Review
Perth is often touted as having a distinct lack of places to party. House takes this argument and stores it in the floor with the anger of the world’s best dance music. This place never fails to amaze with his versatility, cool styling and delivery of a damn good night.
I’ve been here a lot, and for good reason. Villa, opened in 2009 and is the type of the place was screaming for Perth, a multi-purpose, intimate room, which can both present with clubbers and music fans the opportunity to get up close and sweaty with their favorite DJs. Villa is not your average club, but only open for special events. This prevents you from going there week in, week out, making the mystique and allure of the site intact.
The music, oh the music! Villa is all about the music. Every night of the week an international DJ could come waltzing through the glass doors and Villas tear the place. Therefore, the music depends on who you buy tickets to see and (in theory) because you bought the tickets, you are guaranteed to the music. The odds in your favor when it comes to other gamblers – as you know, music influences culture more than music influences culture. If you pay to see that someone likes you, you get the experience of clubbers with a similar taste in music distinct parts. From my experience Villa is a great place to live or DJ sets and the sound is flawless, your ears will hate you …
The sound is not the only thing this place has going for it. The layout is perfect: there are only two bars, but they are great and the bar staff are efficient enough to ensure you get your drink without missing a large part of the act. The dance floor is divided into two levels and both a full view of the DJ booth jutting out of the cool, upper level VIP bar (but who wants pretentious and enjoy a drink behind the DJ when you could be hectic getting the peasants of below?). A balcony above the dance floor and a large outdoor space for smokers and those looking to cool the place to finish.
Contemporary is the only word to describe this place. Cool lights project words and images on the wall behind the dance floor and the upper gray / wood / furniture funky theme of the place is discreet enough so you do not feel like you’re in a spaceship, but enough to know that you’re in a club. But really, who cares about decor? As I said, this club is all about the music.
The DJ booth is great. I have many world class DJ will rise, melting faces and blow minds. If you are lucky enough in the VIP bar or on the odd chance open to the public, the DJ behind you and look him or her do their thing through the glass. An even better deal if the DJ has chosen to top the dance floor as their stage use, because this is an intimate experience that may or may not involve inflatable life rafts …
The drinks are basic, no fancy cocktails or lighted Slippery Nipple shots sex maniac. The range of spirits is impressive however, and the prices are fair (compared to the rest of the city). $ 8 and higher for a mixer and beers are available for $ 6 and up, enough to get you through the night and keep your fluids up when your sweating it out dancing.
If you have a good night out, Villa is the place to go. Getting tickets to a concert, enjoy (many of the events sold out prior to the event, so you would get in the beginning) to have a few drinks and wanted to get money. Small or large crowds, there’s always something to do and someone to meet at Villa. I have some great nights at this club because it is the only club in Perth precision designed to provide them.
